One such dish is the soy-based soup. I decided to create this recipe for my friend Sam who happens to like meat a lot. I made him some soy beef soup.
Soy Beans Are Used In This Asian Meat-based Soup
It adds a lot of flavor and vegetables. The meat used is a soy bean which makes this meal healthier.
To make this recipe vegetarian, you will need a couple of things. First is chickpeas which can be bought at the supermarket or easily prepared with a food processor. Second is any kind of vegetable such as spinach, carrots, corn or asparagus. Third is onions which can be chopped fine. Then you need to add these three items to your soup pot along with some stock or water.
While the soup is cooking, cover it with plastic wrap. Let it cook undisturbed. The reason why you should do so is to protect the veggies from being overcooked. You could use aluminum foil or even a tea light or oven glove for that purpose. Just make sure it covers the whole pot.
Remove The Plastic Wrap
When it is almost ready, you can remove the plastic wrap. Add your favorite vegetables at this point. Stir the soup regularly so that no flavors are lost. Let the mixture cool down. Cover it and put in a secure container.
When the soup is completely cool, you can now remove the lid and use a thin knife to shred the chunks of meat and vegetables. When the soup has totally cooled, wipe it off and store it in a cool dry place. If there is leftover soup, carefully drain it through a strainer into a serving container. Or you can simply reuse it as it is. When storing in the fridge, remember to tightly wrap it to prevent freezer burn.
Serve With Roasted Black Or Green Beans
When serving, garnish it with some chopped fresh herbs and serve with roasted black or green beans. This is how simple it is! You can play around with different herbs and flavors. Experiment with different combinations until you find the perfect one for your taste. If you want to serve it with rice, just add it at the end of the cooking process. It will give it that extra kick you need.
As you can see, creating your own Asian soup recipe is quite easy. You don’t need to be a food expert or even cook to create something delicious and unique. All you need is a little creativity, some spices, and the right ingredients. And voila! Your new Asian soup recipe is ready to serve!
A final note on making an Asian soup recipe vegetarian is to be sure that you only boil the vegetables until they are completely soft and mushy. If you do not soften them long enough, they will become stringy in texture. I find that using a rice cooker makes the cooking a lot quicker. If you do not own a rice cooker, simply heat your water to boiling and then add your veggies. Once they are soft and fluffy, you can puree them in a blender or a food processor. A final thought, be sure to keep track of your ingredients, so that when you are ready to add them to your soup, you have everything prepared and ready to go.
